Born at Spartanburg District, SC on April 21, 1839.
Emigrated with family to TX in 1856.
Educated at Spartanburg, SC.
Began studying medicine at Charleston when war began.
Mustered into Company I, 9th SC Infantry.
Served as Orderly Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant, and Captain.
Resigned (due to transfer).
Transferred into Company A of Terry's Rangers near Rome, GA on July 18, 1863.
Recorded as AWOL from September 20, 1863.
Graduated from Georgia Medical College in 1867.
Returned to Milam County, TX and began his medical practice.
Married Georgie Randle of Washington County, TX in 1869, and had two sons.
Remarried in 1885 to Lulie Rasberry of Milam County, TX, and had one son.
