Letter from Texas.

Eds. Picayune--I regret to say that the cotton worm is destroying all our crops sure enough. Late cotton, which the fine rains of the last two weeks would have caused to give a very heavy yield, will be an almost total failure, and all will be cut short.
I send this by one of the Terry's Rangers, who leave Houston for New Orleans, en route to Virginia. If they do not do credit to Texas we will all here be greatly deceived.
Texas has now 15,000 men in the field, I see it stated in to-day's Telegraph. We have yet plenty left for home defence.
The latest Daily Picayune I have had by mail is of the 3d inst.. Rather hard, don't you think?
Yours,
T.A.
