The Late Col. Terry

Nashville Union & American
Friday, December 20, 1861

The following resolution was adopted by a unamious vote of the two houses of the Legislature on Wednesday: Whereas, the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee has learned with pain and regret of the death of Col. Terry, of the Texas Rangers, in the battle on or near Green river on the 17th instant; and, whereas, we have learned that his remains will be brought in by the Louisville train this day; now, therefore, as a token of respect for the brave and chivalrous dead-for the gallent leader who fell gloriously at the head or in the midst of his regiment.

Resolved, by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That the two bodies thereof will repair to the Louisville depot, upon the arrival of the train, as a tribute of respect for his valor and as earnest of our sympathy for the cause in which he made himself a martyr.
