Col. Parkhurst, Colonel of the regiment of Federals
at Murfreesboro', stated that he had fought the whole regiment of Texas Rangers,
and when told that Col. Wharton had engaged him for four hours with only 120
of the Rangers, he remarked he thought, from the way they fought and fired,
that there was at least 1,000 of them. We are indebted to Emmet Jones, Esq.,
who had the conversation with Col. P. for this item.
