Ross Brooks, one time ranger and deputy sheriff and who was taken to the state hospital at Phoenix several weeks ago died there yesterday according to word recieved in Douglas. He was one of the oldest peace officers in Cochise county and took part in the pursuit of George Stilles and Burt Alvord, train robbers, when the pair fled to Mexico after holding up a Southern Pacific train.
He is survived by a son, Ross Jr., who lives in Douglas. Funeral arrangements are held up pending word from relatives in New Mexico.
