AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 26—Funeral services for John Hill, 93, of Smithville, a member of the Terry's Texas Rangers during the Civil War, were held at the family cemetery near Smithville Wednesday afternoon, following the pioneer's death at his home Christmas night.

Mr. Hill, aside from being a member of the famous Confederate band that has almost been completely wiped away by death, was a pioneer of Central Texas, having located at Smithville about sixty or seventy years ago. He has been promoinent in Masonic work for many years. Only a very small number of the original ranger company survive.
