Death of James M. Hunter

Died in Corpus Christi, September 16th, 1886 at 8:45 p.m. of inflammation of the liver, James M. Hunter, aged 53 years. Mr. Hunter was born in Perry county, Ala., and came to Gonzales, Texas in 1857. In 1866 he married Mrs. Mary Fusselman, at Banquete, and moved to Clinton, DeWitt county, where he resided until 1871 when he moved with is family to corpus Christi. Mr. Hunters was a member of the famous Terry rangers and served in Kentucky and Tennessee during the war. It is said that he was with Terry when the latter was killed near Bowling Green. Mr. Hunter engaged in the livery business in this city and proved to be a worthy citizen. He was quiet and unpretending. He belonged to several organizations in this place, two of which , the Masonic fraternity and fire organization, turned out at his funeral, which was very large. To his bereaved wife and other relatives the Caller extends sympathy.
