Dear Father

I take this opportunity to write to you to let you know how I am I am well and hope this may find all of you enjoying the sam blessings I left Keets on the 16th of Jan I was sorry to leave him as he was in bad health, but I felt it my duty to serve my Country I should have been in long befor if Keets health had been good, but we must put up with the worst and hope for the best.

I have not heard from Chap and Hugh since Dec 22nd Hugh was getting will but Chap was sick I want you to write and let me know when you hear from them and when you hear from James Truett and Bettie. Tell Terry Emily & Drue not to greave about me for I am determin to do my duty. I am far more reserved in Religious and Morality in Camp than I was at home. We have the best Capt in Camp. Capt. Lodidale (?) is our Capt. Company K Col Nelson Reg

We have som sickness in Camps Two of my messmats are sick Writ soon and tell me where all of the boys are from that Neighborhood as for the mens and the price of every thing I know nothing of We know nothing but our business We exspect an attack here some time this winter or spring all anxious for a fight I am on guard and must close I remain your son
