Dear Sister

The last letter I wrote home was one to Brother Tom from Mr. Alexander's and mailed at Gallatin Tennessee I came up to this place day before yesterday and have had no way to get up to where our boys [are] the Cars only make occasional trips they will go up to day or tomorrow. consequently I do not know how the boys are getting along I feel that I am getting my strength again & will soon be as well as ever The weather here is very warm and raining untill it is very unpleasant and I fear [will] cause a great deal of sickness in the camps of our troops. I saw one of our Regiment who came down here on yesterday he says that our Regiment were camped in 12 miles of the Yankees But he did not think that they were going to advance on us

They are still at work fortifying this place It will give the Yankees some Trouble should they attempt to take this place They may find it a secon Manasas

I received your letter dated January 10 & yesterday got out o the office the one to Brother John of December the 29th so you see the mail are very irregular.

Scott give my love to all enquiring friends and when I get up to the Regiment I will then give you another good long letter

And will try and get more paper so that I want have to cross I Knew Ma would be uneasy when she heard that I was sick so I write this to let her know that I am well enough to again attend to duty
