Worth buying for the introduction alone, it contains three first person accounts by Terry's Rangers -- The Diary of Ephraim Shelby Dodd, L. B. Giles' Terry's Texas Rangers, and J. K. P. Blackburn's The Reminiscences of the Terry Rangers, Introduction by Thomas W. Cutrer. Published by State House Press in 1996.

A cornerstone book for any CW enthusiast's library is this insightful, sincere and forthright narrative by a Texas Confederate enlisted man. Fletcher had the distinction of serving in two of the most famous Texas Units during the war. He started out as a foot soldier in Hood's Texas Brigade, then, following hip and foot wounds, he transferred to Terry's Texas Rangers for the remainder of the war.
