"There is properly no history; only biography."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

As this website has developed over the years the personal stories of the individuals who comprised the Terry's Rangers has increasingly become a primary focus. Many people have shared their family histories, genealogical research, and photos. An increasing number of biographical sketches and obituaries have been located. Individuals have been identified in the letters, journals, memoirs, and other items that have been added to the website. To organize this information we have been developing pages containing our notes for each man associated with the regiment. Our Biographical Notes should be regarded as works in progress and will be updated as additional or more accurate information is made available. If you have information or materials that can assist with this project we encourage you to that we might better share the stories of these remarkable men.

In addition to our own notes this website contains a number of biographies from published and unpublished sources. Here is a list of these biographies and biographical sketches.
