Born at Marshall County, AL around 1833.
Described as 5'10" with sandy hair, fair complexion, and blue eyes; occupied as an editor.

Mustered into Company C at Houston, TX on September 12, 1861.
Discharged in January 1862 due to typhoid pneumonia resulting in anemia.
Claiborne indicates he later joined Hood's Brigade and lost an arm while in the service.
