Thomas Sumter Weston

1836 - February 11, 1880

Born in AL in 1836.
Resided at Richmond, Fort Bend County, TX with J. H. Rorie, Co. H, and S. J. B. Rorie, Co. H, in 1860.

Mustered into Company H at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Elected 1st Lietenant.
Left at Houston, TX in September 1861 due to illness.
Regained regiment in October 1861.
Commanded the company by December 1861.
Promoted to Captain in February 1863 (Claiborne indicates date of November 1862).
Left at Decatur, AL by October 1863 to at least March 1864 due to illness.
Possibly led picket detail part of the time of this illness, possibly in the Summerville, Cattooga County, GA area.
Present by August 1864.
Transferred to Colonel Harrison's brigade staff in October 1864 as an adjutant, temporarily.
Commanded the Regiment by April 1865 to the war's end, surrendering 95 Rangers on May 26, 1865.

Married Callie D. Graham on April 1, 1875 at Sumter County, AL.

Died in January or February 1880.
Buried at Morton Cemetery, Richmond, Fort Bend County, TX.

The 1880 Texas Mortality Schedule listing for T. S. Weston, indicates he died at age 43, due to an "abcess of the brain," while his tombstone indicates he died February 11, 1880 at age 44.
