Resided at Lynchburg, Harris County, TX in 1860 with brothers R. West and J. H. West; occupied as a wood cutter.
Described as 5'10", auburn hair, light complexion, and blue eyes.

Mustered into Company K either at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Absent tending to horses near Gallatin, TN during winter 1861-1862.
Supposed captured by December 1863.
Paroled near Gallatin, TN on May 9, 1865.
