John H. West, Jr.

~1833 - April 1, 1863

Born at NC around 1833.
Resided at Lynchburg, Harris County, TX in 1860 with brothers R. M. West and R. West; occupied as a wood cutter.

Mustered into Company K at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Absent (possibly) during summer 1862.
Received bad leg wound at Bardstown or Harrodsburg, KY in October 1862, presumed dead and left behind
Forwarded to Union hospital in Danville, KY in February 1863.
Forwarded to another hospital at Lexington, KY in March 1863.
Forwarded to Camp Butler, Springfield, IL in spring 1863.
Died at Camp Butler, Springfield, IL on April 1, 1863 due to battle wounds, including gunshot wound to right knee, and resulting consumption.
