Born at Marion, Perry County, AL on June 17, 1840.
Moved to Panola County with family, MS in 1843.
Moved to Gonzales County, TX in 1852.
Resided in Belmont, Gonzales County, TX in 1860 with parents and siblings;
occupied as a stockkeeper.
Mustered into Company E at Houston, TX on September 12, 1861.
Elected 1st Cororal.
Promoted to 3rd Sergeant by April 1863.
Suffered gunshot wound to left elbow, permanently disabling arm, at Rockfort,
TN during November 1863; horse killed.
Present by January 1864.
Promoted to 2nd Lietenant in April 1864.
On post duty at Panola, MS in July 1864.
Hospitalized with wound in March 1865 at Meridian, MS.
Paroled May 19, 1865 at Grenada, MS.
Married Martha Elizabeth Tumlinson on January 2, 1867 at Clinton, DeWitt
County, TX (Lic. #616 pg. 189).
First appllied for pension in 1909 - too much land.
Proved he only promised to buy land, never made down payment and never paid
for - not approved to 1914.
Applied for a Texas Confederate Pension in March 1914. (#27878)
Attended the Terry's Texas Rangers Reunion in Austin, TX in October 1921.
Died May 27, 1922 at Kerrville, Kerr County, TX.
