Graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA in 1859.
Possibly resided at McLennan County, TX (Jones Roster).

Mustered into Company A at Houston, TX on September 25, 1861.
Promoted to Assistant Commissary Sergeant in December 1861.
Listed as AWOL by March 1862 to at least May 1862.
Transferred to Brigadier General Wharton's staff as Assistant Commissary Sergeant around November 1862.
Present in January 1863.
Transferred to Brigadier General Wharton's staff in Commissary Department by May 1863.
Present as Major in Commissary Department near Savannah, GA in late 1864 or early 1865.

Acted as U. S. Attorney in the northern district of TX.
