John Dale Palmer

~1840 - March 24, 1863


 

Born in SC around 1840.
Resided at Pine Grove, Austin County, TX in 1860; occupied as a laborer.

Mustered into Company H at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Suffered severe leg wound at Murfreesboro, TN on July 13, 1862.
Hospitalized at Atlanta, GA by August 1862.
Regained regiment in October 1862.
Suffered severe foot wound by friendly fire at Murfreesboro, TN on December 29, 1862.
Died in AL on March 24, 1863 due to smallpox (only reported smalpox case to affect the regiment).
