Born in Newton, Catawba Co., NC around 1832.
Left NC for TX in 1859.
Resided in San Patricio County, TX.

Mustered in with Company I at Houston, TX on September 11, 1861.
Promoted to chief bugler.
Discharged in June 1862 because of "inflammatory rheumatism and neuralgia."

Returned to San Patricio County, TX following the war.

Ranched and operated a ferry on the Nueces River.
