Alsey Silvanus Miller
August 28, 1820 - July 22, 1885
Born in Randolph County, NC on August 28, 1820.
Moved to Callaway County, KY at age 12.
Went to TX alone in 1836, and settled in Washington County.
Moved to LaGrange, TX.
Moved to Gonzales, TX.
Participated in the Plum Creek Battle of 1840.
Married Zillah Parmelia King in Gonzales Co., TX on April 7, 1842.
Escaped the Dawson Massacre of September 18, 1842.
Supplied oxen for the Summerville Campaign in 1843.
Contracted (with John Nichols) to furnish corn and beef for H.E. McCullough.
Commissioned a major by Governor Hansboro Bell in 1850.
His wife died in 1856.
Joined the Methodist church in 1859.
Mustered into Company I at Gonzales, TX on October 12, 1862 by Lt. W.
E. Jones.
Present in February 1864.
Suffered slight wound to heel near Newman, GA on July 30, 1864.
Married Elizabeth Nichols in Gonzales Co., TX on March 14, 1867.
His wife died on March 4, 1874.
Died in Gonzales County, TX on July 22, 1885.
