Born in Adams County, MS on December 4, 1840.
Emigrated to Texas around 1855.
Resided in Independence, Washington County, TX in 1860.

Enlisted in Rogers Company of Texas Volunteers on July 15, 1861 in Milam County, TX.
Mustered in to the 5th Texas Militia on November 1, 1861.
Wounded and taken prisoner at Second Manassas on August 30, 1862.
Wounded again prior to March 29, 1863.
Transfered to Company K of the 8th Texas Cavalry on March 12, 1864.
Participated in Wheeler's scout across the PeeDee River on March 6, 1865.

Married Katherine Emily Mumford in October 1865.
Moved Milam County, TX.
Moved to Greer County, TX in November 1889.
Moved to what is now McKnight, Harmon County, Oklahoma in 1893..
Applied for a Confederate Cross of Honor in 1908.
Served as an officer in UCV Camp #1647.
Attended the United Confederate Veterans reunion at Birmingham, AL in May 1916.

Died on June 9, 1918 in Hollis, OK.
Buried in McKnight Cemetery, Harmon County, OK.
His wife recieved a Confederate Veteran's Widow's Pension.
