Resided at Gonzales, Gonzales County, TX in 1860; occupied as stockraiser.
Mustered into Company I at Houston, TX on September 11, 1861.
Promoted to Lieutenant.
Received life threatening gunshot wound to side and broken hip during the
Sunday afternoon encounter with the enemy near the boggy ravine at Shiloh,
TN on April 6, 1862.
Received furlough due to battle wounds.
Transferred to the command of General Sterling Price by February 1864.
