November 29, 1817 - January 9, 1862


 

Born in about 1818 in Charleston, SC.
Veteran of War for Texas Independence.
Participated in the Texan Santa Fe expedition.
Participated with forces acting against Adrian Woll in 1842.
Resided in Houston, Harris County, TX in 1860.
Delegate to the 1861 secession convention.

Met with president Jefferson Davis in Richmond, VA between June 21 & 23,1861.
Granted commission to raise regiment in July 1861.
Elected Lieutenant Colonel on October 18, 1861.
Sick in Nashville, TN in Decmeber 1861.
Elected Colonel on January 8, 1862.
Died at the home of Mrs. Felecia Grundy Porter at Nashville, TN on January 9, 1862.
Body returned to Texas.
