Born in Fairfield District, SC on December 22, 1834.
Possibly resided in Travis County, TX (Jones Roster).

Apparently joined Terry's Rangers in September 1861.
Said to have joined the regiment.
On duty in KY when transferred to 15th TX Infantry and entered the Trans-Mississippi department.
Left the war as Major.

Returned to his TX plantation.
Occupied as a lawyer.
Served on the Masonic Committee on Work in 1868 with William M. Taylor, Benjamin A. Botts, C. K. Stribling, & James F. Miller.
Acting as Masonic grand high priest in 1872.
Appointed in 1874 (by Gov. Coke) as major of the frontier battalion of Texas Rangers.
Appointed Adjutant General of TX on January 25, 1879.
Married Mrs. A. H. Anderson (widow of the late Col. T. J. Anderson) in Austin, on February 25, 1879.
Died July 19, 1881.
