Isham Green Jones

~1825 - February 15, 1867

Born at GA around 1825.
Resided at Gonzales, Gonzales County, TX in 1860 with wife and three children; occupied as a broker.

Recruited Gonzales Rifles Co., 25th Brigade, Texas State Troops in May 1861.

Mustered into Company I at Houston, TX on September 11, 1861.
Elected captain.
Absent near New Orleans, LA by December 1861 due to illness.
Resigned at Shiloh, April 6, 1862 after being wounded. Claiborne reports he resigned May 7, 1862, or May 26, 1862 according to Andy Jones Roster.

Died at Gonzales, Gonzales County, TX on February 15, 1867, possibly of bullet wound in his lung. Andy Jones Roster (Citing History of Gonzales County Texas) states that death was due to effects of war and that reference to such effects being a gunshot wound to the lung sustained at Shiloh battle on 4/6/62 is unlikely.

Wife, Minerva DeWitt (a daughter of Empressario Green DeWitt), filed pension application that was approved by Texas Comptroller on March, 1910.
