Mustered into Company G at Houston, TX on September 16, 1861.
Elected Captain.
Granted authority to raise company on August 20, 1861.
Commanded regiment briefly during the latter part of April 1862.
Received mortal gunshot wounds to his head in an attack on stockade near McMinnville, TN on August 29, 1862.
Died on August 30, 1862 due to these wounds and buried nearby.
