Born in Montgomery County, TN aroun 1841.
Enlisted in "Waco Guards" in July 1861.( McLennan County, TX)
Mustered into into Confederate Service on October 2, 1861 in Marshall, TX.
Designated as Company A, 7th Texas Infantry on November 10, 1861 in Hopkinsville,
KY.
Avoided capture at Fort Donelson on february, 16, 1862.
Inlisted/transferred to Company C, 8th Texas Cavalry by April 1862.
Suffered gunshot wound to neck at Shiloh, TN on April 6, 1862; N.
W. Grant, Co. C, recorded in a letter that Holloway was thought to be
dead, but got up right in front of the enemy, got his gun, and led a horse
off the battlefield (that had lost its rider) as blood streamed out of his
wounds.
Discharged as disabled on June 28, 1862.
