Born in TN around 1832 or 1842.
Resided in Washington, Washington County, TX in 1860 with wife and one child. (Alternate record lists his residence in Bastrop County, TX.)

Mustered into Company D at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Elected 2nd Sergeant.
Resigned rank on December 14, 1861, reduced to private.
Absent in May 1862 due to illness.
Transfered to Wharton's Scouts in January 1863.
Captured while on bread detail by March 1863.
Unaccounted for by August 1863, when he may have been captured at Cowan, TN.
Forwarded to Camp Chase, OH in September 1863.
Forwarded to Rock Island, IL in January 1864.
Absent and thought to be in Middle TN in June 1864; records indicate he remained imprisoned until March 1865.
Forwarded to unknown location for exchange in March 1865.
Member of Terry Lodge, Regimental, Masonic Chapter.
Paroled at Brenham, TX in August 1865 (apparently).

Cousin of D. O. Hill, Co. D and cousin of (3 brothers) J. W. F. Hill, Co. D, R. E. Hill, Co. D, and T. A. W. Hill, Co. D.
