Moved to TX with family in 1850.

Musterd into Company B at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Elected Ordnance Sergeant or 1st Sergeant (Claiborne).
Promoted to 2nd Sergeant by August 1862.
Acted as 1st Lieutenant on Brigadier General Wharton's staff by January 1863.
Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on Brigadier General Wharton's Staff by February 1864.
Acted as aide-de-camp to General Wharton by March 1864, when he departed for TX.

Died in TX.

Second cousin to J. K. P. Blackburn, Co. F.
