Thomas A. Hart

December 23, 1843 - October 8, 1861


 

John N. Hart came to Texas and purchased land on July 20, 1852.

Mustered in with Company D in Houston on September 7, 1861. (Age listed as 17)

Died from "congestion of brain" or excessive administration of opium in Nashville, October 1861. A family story from a letter in the early 1900s tells that he died after eating rotten cucumbers. He was not yet 18 years old.
Claiborne lists him as the unit's first fatality.(J. B. Pickett of Co. B actually died earlier in LA)

Buried on October 8, 1861 in Nashville's Old City Cemetery.
Moved to Confederate Circle, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN in 1869.
