Marcus Dee Lafayette Hairgrove
1844 - December 29, 1928
Born in Monroe County, MS in 1844.
Family emigrated to Port Lavaca, TX around 1856.
Mustered in with Company E in Houston on September 12, 1861 at age 17.
Present in fall 1861
Discharged in June 1862. due to illness.
Later served with Company A of Man's Texas Cavalry.
Deputy sheriff of Lavaca County, TX.
Tax Collector for Lavaca County, TX.
Taught Penmanship.
Applied for a Confederate Pension from the state of Texas in 1909 (#15370)
Admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on August 23, 1916.
Attended 1921 TTR Reunion.
Died December 29, 1928.
