Born ~1822 at Monroe County, AL.
Resided at Chappel Hill, Washington County, TX in 1860 with wife and possibly a child; occupied as a farmer.
Described as 5'8" with dark hair, fair complexion, and light eyes.

Mustered into Company K at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Discharged April 16, 1862 due to inguinal hernia.
Probably the same John D. Grissett who joined Company B, 24th TX Cavalry.

Died August 17, 1896 at Buffalo, Leon County, TX.
