Emigrated with family to the U.S. in 1853 and settled in Houston, TX.
Both parents and one brother died in 1853.
Resided in Hempstead, Austin County, TX in 1860 with J.
W. Forsgard, Co. K.
Mustered into Company B at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Detailed with pasture horses by January 1863.
Suffered gunshot wound to shoulder in attack on railroad and captured near
Franklin, KY in April 1863.
Hospitalized at Bowling Green, KY.
Forwarded to Camp Chase, OH in June 1863.
Forwarded to Ft. Delaware, DE in July 1863.
Exchanged at Pt. Lookout, MD in March 1864.
Regained regiment near Greenville, TN by April 1864.
Member of Shannon's Scouts.
Paroled at Selma, AL on May 29, 1865.
Engaged in merchandising at Hempstead, Courtney, Rusk and Waxahachie in TX.
Moved to Dallas, TX in 1885.
Attended the 1898 Reunion of Terry's Rangers.
Served on the Committee that petitioned for the return of the Rangers Flag.
Attended the 1899 Reunion of United Confederate Veterans in Austin.
Hosted the 1902 Reunion of Terry's Rangers in Dallas.
Attended the 1902 Memorial services in Farmington, TN.
Served as Brigadier General in the United Confederate Vetrans Organization.
Arranged transportation for Veterans attending the 1910 UCV reunion in Mobile,
AL.
Published his autobiography in 1916.
