Robert Lee Gill
March 24, 1844 - June 15, 1918
Born in TN on March 24, 1844.
Resided at Bastrop County, TX in 1860 with parents and six siblings; occupied
as a student.
Mustered into Company E at Beaumont, TX by Capt. Rayburn.
Absent during autumn 1861 due to illness.
Discharged in January 1862 due to illness.
Joined Company D, Baylor's Regiment TX Cavalry on December 18, 1862.
Honorably discharged on May 23, 1865 at Houston, TX.
Married Mary Jane Thompson.
Had three children between 1868 and 1882.
Requested pension, which was approved April 19, 1915.
Died June 15, 1918 at Bastrop, Bastrop County, TX.
Wife requested pension, which was approved August 3, 1918.
NOTE: May be two individuals, R. L. Gill in 8th TX Cav. and Robert Gill in Baylor's Regiment.
