Born in VA around 1831.
Moved with family to Grainger County, TN in 1835.
Served through the Mexican-American War (1846-47) in the 5th TN regiment under Col. George R. McClelland.
Resided in Washington County, TX.

Mustered into Company B at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Promoted to Lieutenant in August, 1862.
Commanded company for all or portions of January 1863 through at least July 1863.
Wounded at Cassville, Georgia on May 12, 1863. (Jones Roster indicates possibly on May 24, 1863.)
Present in March 1865.
Member and Master Mason, Terry Lodge, Regimental Chapter.

Served as County Treasurer for Brazos County, TX.
