Henry Clay Evans
October 15, 1844 - March 4, 1907
Born in Evansville, Washington County, AR.
Emigrated with his family to Gonzales County, TX in 1852.
Resided in Hopkinsville, Gonzales County, TX with parents and two siblings;
occupied as a farmer.
Mustered in with Company C in Houston on September 12, 1861.
Elected 4th Corporal
Promoted to 2nd Corporal by August 1862.
Left sick near Cleveland, TN in November 1863.
Returned to regiment by September 1864 and court-martialed for absence without
leave.
Said to have been wounded, date unknown.
Engaged in the cattle business after the war.
Gonzales Inquirer article - H. C. Evans family moving, January 7, 1888.
Moved to New Mexico around 1904.
Died in St. Mary's hospital at Roswell, NM on March 4, 1907.
