Born in Wallisville, Chambers County, TX on February 7 or 12,
1843.
Resided in Lynchburg, Harris County, TX in 1860 with his parents and eight
siblings (including A. M. Dunman), and occupied as a stockkeeper.
Enlisted in Company K at Houston, TX on April 4, 1862.
Travelled with brother, A. M. Dunman, Co. K, to meet regiment, and reached
it just after the battle of Shiloh.
Present in February 1864.
Received serious gunshot wound to thigh on August 20, 1864 at East Point,
GA - the same bullet also wounded his horse's back - and remained in care
for about six months.
Rejoined company around February or March 1865 at Rome, GA.
Received gunshot wound to shoulder on February 4, 1865 at Barkers Crossroads,
SC.
Accompanied Captain Shannon on his first scout behind Sherman's lines.
Brother of Aaron M. Dunman, Co. K & Henry
R. Dunman , Co. I, and three other brothers who served the Confederacy
in other units.
Married Lucinda Elvina Winfree on Oct. 18, 1866 in Liberty, TX.
Joined father-in-law, with brother Aaron, at ranching in Chambers County,
TX.
Moved family to Refugio County, Texas in 1869.
Moved family to Coleman, Coleman County, TX in 1879 and started the D &OH
Ranch.
Sold the ranch in 1882 and remained in Coleman for the remainder if his life.
He also attended the Ranger reunion in 1882.
He attended the Ranger Reunion in 1902.
He died June 9, 1924.
Buried at Coleman City Cemetery, Coleman, Coleman County, TX.
