Thomas Freeman Crain

~1852 - 1908

Thomas Freeman Crain was seventeen years old when he enlisted in TTR with his nineteen year old brother, James Monroe. After the war, he worked as a cowhand and married Elizabeth Threlkeld. They had two sons, one of whom was my grandfather, Lee Thomas. In 1890, he moved from Lavaca Co. to Texarkana, Bowie Co where he died in 1908. He is buried in Rosehill Cemetery in that city. In the reunion picture, it is believed he is fifth from left, first row. His widow's Application for Pension, No.18760, was filed in 1910. It was witnessed by E.M. Phelps and Joe G. Booth, "comrads in arms".
