Born in 1837 in Clark County, KY.
Family moved to Missouri in 1838.
Family moved to Texas in 1845.
He and his brother, James A. Collins, went to work for his Uncle, James M.
Foster, in the shipping business in 1857.
He and his brother, became partners with their uncle in 1859.
Mustered in with Company K in Houston on September 7,1861
Listed as absent sick at Bowling Green, KY in late 1861.
(Claiborne's Roster states he died at Bowling Green in 1861.)
Last Reported as absent sick in January 1862.
Said to have served throughout the war, possibly in another unit.
Married Artie Holliday in 1866.
