Resided in Houston, Harris County, TX in 1861.
Mustered into Company K at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Elected 3rd Lieutenant.
Promoted to Captain in January 1862.
Wounded slightly to the lip at Murfreesboro, TN on July 13, 1862.
Promoted to Major in June 1863.
Promoted to acting Lieutenant Colonel in July 1863.
Led 20 to 30 man squad to KY for horses in July 1863.
Wounded with shattered jawbone and lost teeth at Farmington, TN on October
7, 1863.
Returned to regiment in November 1863.
Received furlough to TX, as Major, in September 1864, to gather several soldiers
from the regiment and the 3rd AR who had overstayed furloughs.
Prompted publication of newspaper notices in TX in November 1864 and March
1865, admonishing men to report back to their regiment.
Claiborne indicates he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 1865; however,
he did not return to regiment in 1865 and signed parole as Major.
Paroled at Galveston, TX or Houston, TX in July 1865.
Attended the 1898 Terry Ranger reunion in Houston, TX. (Residence
listed as Houston.)
Part of the committee that petitioned for the return of the Ranger flag.
