Born in Bastrop, Bastrop County, TX around 1840.
Attended Bastrop Military College.
Resided in Bastrop, Bastrop County, TX in 1860 with his parents and four siblings;
occupied as a student and farmer.
Described as 5'10" with black hair, dark complexion, and black eyes.
Mustered into Company D at Austin, TX on May 12, 1862 or July
13, 1862.
Served with Kirby's battallion for six months.
Discharged on November 2, 1862 due to chronic rheumatism and diarrhea, returning
to Bastrop, TX.
Left (apparently) after December 1862.
Rejoined regiment in June 1863 in time to take part in battle at Hoover's
Gap.
Discharged in September 1863 due to health reasons and returned home to Bastrop,
TX.
Rejoined regiment in June 1864 and served through the war's end.
Surrendered at Anderson, NC in May 1865 (apparently) or at Goldsborough with
General Johnston.
Paroled at Nashville, TN on May 2, 1865 or June 8, 1865.
After returning home to Bastrop, TX in August 1865, he began
farming, which lasted through 1867.
Operated a merchandising business and saw mill from 1868-1873.
Served as postmaster of Caldwell's Store (Kenton, TX) in June 1878 (June 5,
1878).
Moved to Austin, TX in 1880.
Served as Alderman on Austin City Council for three years.
Member of Masonic fraternity and Knights Templar.
Served as secretary of G. B. & Feeders' Assosiation of Travis County,
TX beginning 1889.
Engaged in farming and stock feeding.
