Hammond Bouldin
February 24, 1825 - April 10, 1905
Born in Madison County, AL on February 24, 1825.
Arrived in TX in 1846 to explore the prospects and to prepare for his family's
arrival.
Became a physician after his first wife's death in 1851.
Resided in Chappell Hill, Washington County, TX in 1860, with wife, and also
with D. H. Browning of Co. K.
Mustered into Company K at Houston, TX on September 7, 1861.
Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on January 8, 1862.
Absent due to illness near Decatur, AL in the spring of 1862.
Rejoined regiment in April 1862.
Absent tending to T. J. Burrows of Co. K in May 1862.
Received furlough around June 1862.
Resigned his commission in February 1863.
Acted as special agent and wagon master from around April 1863 to at least
June 1863.
Practiced medicine in Chappell Hill, TX until 1889, when he
(and his second wife) sold his 400 acre farm and moved to Lawn, Taylor County,
TX and built a home (at age 64) on a 710 acre ranch; expanded the ranch by
320 acres in 1890.
Died at TX on April 10, 1905.
Buried in Old Lawn, TX in April 1905.
Memorial service held at Lawn, TX on October 11, 1997, by members of the Sons of the Confederacy, at which time a Confederate Marker was unveiled; fourteen Bouldin family members attended the service.
