Thomas Elliott Bolling

July 29, 1832 - March 18, 1911

Born near Vicksburg, Warren County, MS on July 29, 1832.
Moved with family to Tensas Parish, LA in 1846.
Moved with family to CA and raised cattle in the Feather River area.
Returned with family to Jackson County, TX in 1859.
Resided at Bee County, TX according to Andy Jones Roster; resided at Gonzales County, TX according to Claiborne.

Enlisted in the army in the Spring of 1861 at Columbus, TX.
Mustered into Company I at Houston, TX on September 11, 1861.
Promoted to Sergeant by April 1862.
Wounded (badly broken arm) during the Sunday afternoon encounter with the enemy near the boggy ravine at Shiloh, TN on April 6, 1862.
Sent to the hospital in Corinth, MS.
Went to his uncle's home in Warren County, MS to recover.
Returned to duty in August 1862.
Promoted to 3rd Sergeant by August 1862.
Present in February 1864.
Served as Quartermaster with the rank of Captain.
Surrendered in 1865 at Winchester [GA?].
Walked to Montgomery, AL then traveled by boat to New Orleans and on to Texas.
Member of Terry Lodge, Regimental Masonic Chapter.

Following the war, he went to round up horses in MS.
Married Susan Eugenia Scott on March 4, 1869 at MS.
Settled on a farm near Honey Grove, Fannin County, TX.
Moved to Comanche County, TX and worked at ranching.
Purchased a farm near Edna, Jackson County, TX after 1893.

Died in Edna, Jackson County, TX on March 18, 1911.
