Born about 1831 in NY.
Fought in the Mexican War.
Left for Califonia's Gold Rush about February 20, 1849, arriving six months
later.
Returned from CA in the fall of 1851 by steamship to New York via Nicaragua.
Set up a "Fancy goods" store in Port Lavaca.
Moved to Galveston to study law.
Practiced law in Gonzales with Albert N. Mills in the late 1850s.
Active in the Episcopal church & Masonic Order.
Studied and practiced law in Galveston.
Resided in Gonzales, Gonzales County, TX in 1860 with his wife.
Mustered into Company C at Houston, TX on September12,
1861 by Captain Jesse W. Sparks.
Elected 1st Sergeant.
Elected 2nd Lieutenant on March 27, 1862.
Received horse kick in his leg by October 1862.
Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on October 9, 1862.
Transferred to Brigadier General Wharton's staff by May 1863.
Served as acting Adjutant General in the last half of 1863.
Commanded company by February 1864.
Received mortal wounds during the "Rome Races" engagement in October
1864 (possibly on October 7, 10, 13, or 16 1864).
Died in enemy custody on October 16, 1864.
Buried at Rome, GA.
Member of Terry Lodge, Regimental, Masonic Chapter.
