Macmurphy notes he returned from hospital on June 9, 1863.

up to June 30, 1863).
Listed as present on March 1, 1864 Muster Roll (last paid by Capt. Bartholomew
up to Nov. 1, 1863).
Wounded in the foot near Newnan, GA on July 30, 1864.
Led the charge at Sandersville, GA on November 22, 1864.
Letter to a Texas newspaper identified him as Lt. Bassett on November 25,
1864.

in the head on Salkehatchie River near Aiken, SC on February 2, 1865.
Paroled at Demopolis, Ala., June 13, 1865.
Acted as Fort Bend Postmaster from March 1899 to October 1901.
Also served as county Tax Collector in 1904.
