Born January 19, 1834 at Elizabeth City, NC.
Married Anna Dorothy Mudd on April 7, 1858 at Richmond, Fort Bend County, TX.

Mustered into Company H on July 4, 1862, by Capt. Cook at Richmond, TX.
Captured in East Tennessee on January 17, 1864.

Resided at Houston, Galveston, Beaumont, and New Orleans.
Resided at Lake Charles, LA in February 1894.
Received Southern Cross of Honor from the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Lake Charles (LA) chapter on June 13, 1903.
Attended the UCV Centennial of the Birth of Jefferson Davis on June 3, 1908 at Austin, TX.
Attended TTR reunions as follows: Galveston, TX on Dec. 17, 1876; San Antonio, TX on May 21, 1879; Houston, TX on Dec. 16, 1880; Veteran's Reunion on April 22-25, 1902 [?]; Austin, TX on Nov. 14-15, 1905; Houston, TX on Nov. 10, 1908; Austin, TX [?] in 1909; Austin, TX on Nov. 7-8, 1911.
Member of the Albert Sidney Johnston camp of the U.C.V. of Lake Charles, LA.
Mason of high rank and employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Died October 4, 1912 at the Soldiers' Home at Arlington, Tarrant County, TX.
Buried at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant County, TX, at Block C, Grave No. 119.
