Benjamin Franklin Adams

~1829 - ??

Benjamin Franklin Adams , "Frank," is believed to have been born around 1829 in AL. (It is possible Frank was born in Lynchburg, VA and the family moved to AL when he was very young.) His father was James C. Adams. His mother is unidentified but there is a record of a James C. Adams being married to Caroline Bohannon on January 3, 1825 in Greene County, AL. Margaret Campbell became his step-mother on October 24, 1849.

Frank and his brothers Jack, Duff, and Young came to Texas in 1856 and settled in Fort Bend County. The 1860 US Census shows Frank and Jack operating a plantation near Stafford. There is a Young Adams in a hotel in Richmond, TX.

Frank and his brother, Duff, enlisted with with Company "H" of Terry's Texas Rangers in Houston on September 7, 1861. Frank became ill and returned home in April 1862. His last official record shows him absent on sick furlough in August 1862. His brother, Jack was enlisted as a private by Captain Cook in Richmond, TX on May 14, 1862. It is quite possible he enlisted as a substitute for Frank.
